Podophyllotoxin

Podophyllotoxin, also known as Podophyllotoxin, is a non-alkaloid lignan toxoid. It is extracted from the rhizome of podophyllum. Its ethanol solution and ointment are marketed under the trade names Kangdingle and verruca, respectively, and can be used as a topical drug to treat condyloma acuminatum caused by the human papillomavirus. Podophyllotoxin and its synthetic derivatives such as etoposide and teniposide have shown wide selection in medical applications such as antiviral and antitumor agents (see related literature)
