L-Balenine

1-methylcarnosine, also known as anserine or β-alanyl-1-methyl-l-histidine, is a dipeptide that is widely found in muscle tissue. As a precursor of anserine, it has important physiological functions. When hypersarcosinemia occurs in the body, sarcosine levels in urine, blood, and cerebrospinal fluid are elevated, and sarcosine and dimethylglycine supplementation can be used to help eliminate excess sarcosine (see related literature).
